The culture of the world is multiple, even though in a country, there is also different culture between regions and nations.
In polybasic culture, two kinds of culture system, eastern and western culture, have a great influence on the development of society. The difference between them can be felt in many domain, such as food, dinner service, clothing, music, instrument, construction, picture, character, medicine, etc. Chinese culture is a symbol of the eastern culture.
In medicine, the main schools of two kinds are traditional Chinese and western medicine.
Now, a question, how to treat the relationship between them?
Abandon Chinese medicine and only keep western medicine? Yet abandon western medicine, keep Chinese medicine?
Actually, possibility of both exists because they all have the base and vitality of survival.
But let both of them coexist independently, yet make them combine mutually?
Combination between traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine is a kind of ideology, view and policy.
Combination is necessary, possible and advantageous. Link science between TCM and western medicine is a branch of subject. It mainly investigates into the possibility and methodology of combination.
No difference exists between the basic theories of TCM and western medicine.For example, yin-yang theory of TCM is just contradictory one. TCM thinks that yin and yang are unity of opposites, both opposite and complementary to each other. The coordination of yin and yang is just balance and stabilization of physiology, for instance, excitement and inhibition of nervous system, contraction and laxation of muscle, hyperfunction and hypofunction and endocrine system, mydriasis and miosis, etc.
TCM holds both excess and lowering are disorder.
Theory of generation and restriction in five elements
There are interaction and interrelation between organs. In some instance, the function of some organ may enhance that of others, for example, pituitary gland has a promotive action on the function of adrenal cortex, sexual gland, thyroid, etc. That is interpromoting relation in five elements in TCM.
Moreover, if the function of adrenal gland excesses, pituitary gland will secrete and lower the function of adrenal gland. This accords with restriction relation in five elements.
Generally, normal in function of any organ could have a health influence on other ones. Dysfunction of any organ, hyperfunction or hypofunction, may have a unhealthy influence on others. That is just the relationship of generation and restriction to each other.

Theory of invigorating viscera with viscera

TCM holds that applying viscera may have a great influence on identical viscera. This accords with the theory of modern medicine. There may exist similar elements, amino acid and factors in the same organs. Using them may improve relevant denutrition. The differentiation induced by the stem cell just uses homogeneous histological cells.
Treating disease should remove cause, its symptoms and causes should cure in the same time.
This conforms to principle of treatment for cause and symptoms.
   Excellent doctors should be able to treat unknown diseases. The wise physicians may think that prevention is a key factor in treatment. They should pay attention to sub-health state and pre-clinical treatment.

The principle of treating the toxifying disease with poisonous agents.

Using harmful drug attacks the noxious cause, for example, carcinoma may be treated with arsenical. At present, using it may have treated M3 leukemia and syphilis.Diagnosis and treatment based on overall analysis of symptoms and signs, the cause, nature and location of the illness and the patient's physical condition according to the basic theories of TCM.
Differentiation of symptoms and signs is the principle of searching for symptoms in TCM. All diagnosis and treatment must have evidence. TCM can attach importance to psychological factor and put forward that excess of seven emotions (joy, anger, melancholy, anxiety, grief, fear, terror) may initiate disorder. This accords with the principle of modern psychology and biology.
Non-pharmacotherapy of TCM, such as acupuncture and moxibustion, cupping, point massage, has themselves characteristic and advantage.
   Integrating with modern electronics and magnetics, they would be developed further.
The Chinese Materia Medica has drawn thousands of natural drugs from animal, plant and mineral. This is a huge treasure house. TCM would be developed for further level by applying experimental study in western medicine.
There are many Chinese drugs that may be used to treat some difficult and complicated cases. They all need to develop and study further. It has known that arsenical may be used to treat M3 leukemia. Shuanghua huangqin lianqiao may be used to treat virus infection, etc.
Many Chinese drugs need to further study, they may product new dosage form and attain better curative effect, for example, pueraria root can improve micro-circulation and may be used to treat some fundus disease. Pueraria root for injection can dropped into vein, notogineseny (sanqi) and promote the blood flow and arrest bleading, it can be make into injection for treating thrombus.
Above two kinds of two drugs can be used to treat diseases.
Investigation into effective component of Chinese drug may promote the development of  synthesis medicine, for instance, atropine was just taken from Chinese drug.

The theory of five orbiculi.

There are 5 parts for eye from outside to inside according to the theory of TCM. That is, flesh orbiculus (eyelid), blood orbiculus (canthus), qi orbiculus (the white of the eye), wind orbiculus (the black of the eye) and water orbiculus (pupil).
They are the superficial marker of eyeball and also a kind of method marking eye. Modern ophthalmology divides eye into superficial disease, anterior segment and posterior segment disease.
Five orbiculi theory describes that each of the fine viscera may be physio-pathologically related to one of the orbiculi. Water orbiculus lies in the centra, and may be related to vision. Wind lies in the para-central,  qi orbiculus is in the peripheral part within eye, blood orbiculus represents peripheral tissue of eye, flesh orbiculus symbolizes the part of eyelids).
Ophthalmology in TCM has its distinct method of outstanding disease of disturbance in circulation, promoting blood flow, arresting bleeding without ecchymosis, preventing secondary bleeding, etc.
Applying notoginseng, safflower, peach kernel and chrysanehemum flower can be made into pill to treat hemorrhage within eye.
