有关PEDF的作用机制尚有许多疑问:PEDF与其他血管调控因子之间的互相作用,是否存在PEDF特异性受体及PEDF抑制内皮细胞的信号转导通路等, 有待进一步研究。PEDF具有抑制病理性血管新生和神经营养双重生物学功能,既可以有效地抑制血管新生,又能有效地保护神经元,可以在治疗疾病的同时保护视功能,为眼部新生血管性疾病的治疗提供了新的思路,其将成为试图控制糖尿病视网膜病变、早产儿视网膜病变、年龄相关性黄斑变性等疾病很有潜力的药物。同时其高效、无明显副作用的特点使其具有良好的应用前景。目前PEDF对新生血管的治疗还处于早期阶段,还需大量研究进一步证明其安全性和有效性。随着研究的深入,PEDF必将为眼部新生血管性疾病的防治带来新的突破。
