Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Beijing China Raised IOP is the basic characteristic and the most important risk factor for the development and progression of all kind of glaucoma. The prevalence and incidence of glaucoma is increasing by the level of the elevated IOP. Some clinical trials showed that decrease of IOP is the hard-core in the glaucoma management, even in the normal tension glaucoma. Medicine, laser and surgery can decrease IOP. We should choice the appropriate measures for the individual patient. The target IOP is an important concept in management of glaucoma. Each glaucoma patient should have his target IOP, which may be determined by the condition of the optic disc, visual field and the systemic microvalcular situation. The IOP of each glaucoma patient should be decreased to the level of his target IOP, not the range of the normal IOP. The target IOP should be modified according to the patient response to the treatment.
