OBJECTIVE:To examine the 1-year results of Verteporfin photodynamic therapy for pathologic myopic choroidal neovascularisation(CNV).METHODS:fourteen eyes of 12 patients with pathologic myopic CNV were prospectively recruited to receive one or two verteporfin photodynamic therapy(PDT-V).A completely ophthalmologic evaluation was performed on all patients and included best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),fundus examination,and fluorescein angiography(FA,All follow-up tests were scheduled at 3-month intervals for a period of 1 year.RESULTS:The mean BCVA in the 11 eyes at the final visit was improved over or unchanged that before the PDT.11(78.6%)eyes had angiographic closure and 3(21.4%)required further treatment.This corresponded to unchanged or even decreased leakage of dye.5 eyes were carried out the second PDT therapy after 6 monthsCONCLUSIONS:Verteporfin photodynamic therapy is effective for myopic CNV and the visual outcome for those eyes with initial BCVA |
