Background： Blunt ocular trauma could result in many kinds of traumatic maculopathies，but traumatic macular atrophy is rare.

Method: A 8-year–old boy presented with a local macular lesion caused by blunt ocular trauma in the right eye.Nine months before，the right eye was hit by a piece of mud when playing badminton.The boy was referred to the local hospital for the conservative treatment，but the exact reason for the low visual acuity was not found；We found the obvious macular atrophy by the OCT，FFA and mf ERG.

Results:the fundus showed the irregular map change around the macular，ERG and VEP is normal；FFA showing pigment epithelial atrophy，mfERG show quit obvious abnormal map that the peak of the macular was vanish，OCT scan show the thickness of macular decrease to 1/3 thickness of normal macular.

Conclusion:It is evident that blunt ocular trauma could cause the local macular atrophy identified with the OCT scanning，mfERG and traditional FFA.Macular atrophy maybe the unique pattern of macular lesion in the blunt ocular trauma.
