1993年Veriac[11]阐明氧自由基与NO在调节视网膜血管紧张性方面作用相反,即氧自由基淬灭NO,抗氧化剂间接保护视网膜的NO维持一定水平,发挥舒张血管改善微循环的作用并提高视功能。晶状体是一个光学器官,接受UV的光能量,促进晶状体的光化学、光敏化学反应,多途径的产生氧自由基,持续不断地损伤晶状体蛋白,使其变构丧失透明性。因此晶状体内虽然NOS活性比视网膜高,但NO被氧自由基破坏,这或许是自我保护。若晶状体内含氧自由基,而高活性的NOS合成过多的NO,必将发生反应产生更强的羟自由基,晶状体的损伤将更加严重,透明性更难维持。
氧自由基诱导温育晶状体NOS活性上升,海珠神、麝珠明目、益视安、晶福分别对NOS具有43.7%,27.4%,18.4%,16.2%的抑制作用,而视明露具有激活NOS的作用。氧自由基诱导晶状体脂质过氧化终末产物即丙二醛(MDA)增加,5种抗白内障药物分别具有100%的抑制作用,这5种抗白内障药物都是抗氧化剂。本实验证实海珠神、麝珠明目和视明露保护晶状体NO,不使它被氧自由基灭活。
