Objective:To present the first reported case of implantable collamer lens(ICL)subluxation as a consequence of sudden occiput injury. Methods:A 31-year-old man had bilateral implantation of ICL.UCVA,refraction,BCVA,UBM,contrast sensitivity testing, specular endothelial cell,IOP,and slit-lamp examination were performed.
Results:There were no intraoperative complications.UCVA of both eyes were 1.0 in the 24h postoperative examination and the ICL vaults were adequate.Four months later, monolateral ICL subluxation in the right eye occurred after sudden occiput injury under dark-room situation. The subluxation was situated on the nasal-inferior footplate that had moved forward into the anterior chamber and was entrapped by the pupil. No secondary cataract and other complications were observed.Reposition of the ICL was performed.UCVA of the repositioned eye was 1.0 in the 24h postoperative examination and 1.2 three months later. No postoperative complications developed.
Conclusions:This report of occiput injury in a patient implanted with bilateral phakic ICLs emphasizes the importance of eye protection.
