The Correlation between Surgical Induced Corneal Aberrations and Overall Ocular Aberrations in Eyes with Aspheric IOL Implant

PURPOSE：To study the correlation between corneal wavefront changes induced by cataract surgery and ocular aberration in AsphericIOL eyes.METHODS：48 eyes with AcrySof IQ IOL implant were included.Corneal aberrations were measured pre-and 3-6 months postoperatively and total ocular aberrations were measured postsurgery.Surgical induced corneal aberrations was calculated and correlated to the ocular wavefront.RESULTS：Significant changes of corneal aberration were found after surgery.Terms of surgical induced corneal aberration varied individually.Statistically significant correlations were found between corneal aberration and total aberration from 2-nd to 6-th aberrations in 13 terms.When considering the relation of surgical induced corneal aberration and ocular aberration，five terms(C16，C18，C20，C21，C23)showed significant correlation.CONCLUSIONS：2.2 mm microincision coaxial phacoemulsification can induced optical changes in anterior cornea.The distortions of the cornea do have a role on the total ocular aberration in patients with aspheric IOL.
