PURPOSE:To report the technique and surgical otcomes of Sandwichtrabeculectomy combined with Microphakonit in eyes with glaucoma with persistently high intraocular pressure and coexisting cataract.
METHODS:After microphakonit,Under the limbus-based conjunctival flap, the third incision was made at one-third depth of scleral-corneal for ontraocular lens injection and then another incision was made at the same place but at two-thirds depth, the middle one third was cut off,and peripheral iridectomy was performed. After injection of viscoelastics into the tunnel(like sandwich),continuous conjunctival suture wes finishrd.
RESULTS:The first 12 consecutive eyes of 12 patients who had taken Sandwichtrabeculectomy combined with Microphakonit had significantly reduced intraocular pressure(29.6±12.7%).There was a 9.8%reduction in the mean corneal endothelial cell count. There were no other complications up to 6 months after surgery.
CONCLUSION:Sandwichtrabeculectomy combined with Microphakonit appeared to be an effective and safe option in patients with glaucoma with persistently high intraocular pressure and coexisting cataract.. |
