Purpose:To study the rotational stability of intraocular lens(IOL)with limbus registration.
Method:The study comprised 39 consecutive senile cataract patients(45 eyes),who had phacoemulsification and Rayner IOL intracapsular implantation.Limbus registration was based on limbus features for identifying the rotational stability of IOL.The images of limbus features were taken respectively while the patient was seated at the slit-lamp camera just before surgery, immediately postoperatively under microscope and 1 week,1 month and 3 month after surgery by slit-lamp camera. The angles between reference axis and IOL axis were measured by MB-Ruler.
Results:Rayner IOL had the fine rotational stability. One week,1 month and 3 month after surgery,IOL rotation was 0.45±0.24 degrees(0.12~0.93 degrees),0.47±0.28 degrees(0~0.98 degrees)and 0.49±0.28 degrees(0.10~0.95 degrees),respectively. Conclusion:Limbus registration is a suitable and precise method for evaluating the rotational stability of intracapsular implanted intraocular lens(IOL),especially toric IOLs.
